Welcome to Brecon Nepalese Society UK website. Brecon is a beautiful and long-established market town situated in the heart of Brecon Beacon National Park in Southern Powys, mid Wales.
Brecon Nepalese Society was established in the year 2011 within the local Brecon Community.
The primary intention of this establishment was to bring together all the Nepalese living in and around Brecon, mid Wales whilst maintaining their rich tradition and culture. As a result, we have been able communicate and interact with each other and most importantly help each other during difficult times.
The secondary intention was to add some impetus to our already established relationship with local communities here in Brecon and mid Wales. We believe that by fostering a close relationship, which is founded purely on our mutual understanding, respect and trust, we might one day, be able to form a greater alliance thus achieving success at greater level.
Nepalese first came to serve in Brecon as British Gurkhas in the year 1974. On 21st November 1985, they were awarded Honorary Citizenship of Brecon. To mark this occasion, a parade known as Brecon Freedom Parade was held on May 3rd 1986 and this tradition has continued ever since. Since then, the Gurkhas and the Nepalese living in and around Brecon have played a vital role in the local communities and have ever since become an integral part of the society.
